Behind every success are dedicated people with a wealth of ideas who want to create something together. And behind every success is a vision pointing towards the common path to the future.
After more than 50 years, we look back on our beginnings, on the progress of our company - from a single upholsterer to one of the most important upholstered furniture manufacturers in Europe. At the same time we give an insight into a company with a solid past and a promising future.
1950
Already three years before the actual founding of the company, the first pieces of furniture take shape in an old newspaper stand in the nearby village of Schney.
1953
Official founding of the company KOINOR by Horst Müller. Move to a larger manufacturing area. About 20 living room sets leave the plant every day.
1956
A new factory with even more manufacturing capacity is built. The first product catalog appears, with drawings still done by hand.
1957
The order books are bulging. In addition to the new plant, a new office building is built. It still houses the headquarters of the company today.
1960
By this time, the company has sixty employees. The first conveyor belt makes manufacturing even faster and more efficient.
1974
The first pieces of high-quality leather furniture are created and received enthusiatically in The Netherlands and Germany.
1977
KOINOR takes company space in Maroldsweisach and converts it into a modern branch plant. The company is represented for the first time at the Furniture Fair in Cologne.
1978
KOINOR celebrates its first company anniversary - 25 years.
1981
The branch plant in Maroldsweisach is bursting at the seams. A generous amount of new space is added.
1983
Again the company needs more space. A further plant is built in Weismain.
1992
Company founder Horst Müller retires. He sells his company to executive staff members.
1999
Ground is broken for one of the most modern upholstery factories in Europe. Final production and a large logistics center are built in Michelau. At the same time, a 3000-square meter showroom with bar and bistro are built at the main plant for an adequate product presentation.
2000
The SOFAS FOR FRIENDS catalog is presented at the international Furniture Fair in Cologne.
2003
KOINOR celebrates its second big company anniversary - 50 years. The diamond graces the catalog for the first time. Since then, it has become the unforgettable symbol of all the products of the company.
2004
The PEARL sofa wins the red dot design award. This internationally recognized design prize is awarded to products which have exhibited excellent quality of design.
2007
The DINNER SOFAS enter domestic dining rooms.
today
The company now has 50,000 square meters of space distributed as before over 4 locations. Approx. 600,000 square meters of leather and approx. 200,000 running meters of fabric and microfibers are processed each year. More than 600 sofas and eays chairs are delivered daily to specialty stores in Germany, Europe and overseas.
