KOINOR is Climate Neutral

The German Furniture Quality Association (DGM) has certified KOINOR, a company based in Michelau, as a climate-neutral furniture manufacturer according to the criteria of the RAL Quality Mark 435 "Climate-Neutral Furniture Production." As a member of the Climate Pact for the Furniture Industry since 2022, the manufacturer of dining and upholstered furniture had already successfully reduced its CO₂ emissions—and has now fully offset them. For end consumers in the furniture trade, the sense of responsibility shown by German companies is becoming increasingly important.

With the goal of reducing its CO₂ emissions by 40 percent by 2025, KOINOR joined the DGM Climate Pact last summer. Ambitions were quickly followed by action: energy-efficient renovations of company buildings were initiated, the company’s vehicle fleet was modernized, and lighting was converted to LED technology. The switch to 100 percent green electricity and in-house power generation via a photovoltaic system is also imminent. KOINOR has now fulfilled another commitment by offsetting its remaining CO₂ emissions through the purchase of high-quality climate protection certificates that meet the "Gold," "UN-CER," and "VCS" offsetting standards. From now on, KOINOR manufactures its furniture in a climate-neutral manner and can certify this to end consumers in the furniture retail sector with the RAL Quality Mark “Climate-Neutral Furniture Production.”

The DGM established the Climate Pact for the Furniture Industry in 2016 to make an important contribution to climate protection and, in collaboration with participating manufacturers, to reduce CO₂ emissions step by step. DGM Managing Director Jochen Winning praised Koinor's efforts and stated: "The better the global CO₂ balance becomes year after year, the sooner we can curb global warming and the resulting natural disasters. Together, we as the furniture industry aim to contribute to the protection of the climate, our environment, and intergenerational fairness. For this purpose, we voluntarily commit to avoiding greenhouse gas emissions as much as possible and fully offsetting those that are unavoidable—just as KOINOR has now demonstrated."
