Leather with matt, slightly sanded surface
1,1 - 1,3 mm thick
Compact with a strong, thick skin structure and a fine scar grain, D-VELVET is a 1.1 – 1.3 mm thick, elegant aniline leather with exclusive character. The approximately 5 square-meter hides all come exclusively from Europe. The material is tanned with minerals and is coloured in a barrel. The surface is slightly whetted to refine it further. The natural skin structure remains preserved with all natural and growth characteristics, which give the leather is distinctive individuality. But instead of a smooth surface, there is a fine, slightly roughened pile. The fibres are partly open. This lends D-VELVET a nice and soft feel and a matte look, its special softness and the high breathing activity due to the open leather structure ensures an unimpeded balance of temperature and humidity. However, it also requires a certain appreciation of the material, as the leather lives too, gaining radiance. Mechanical load and foreign particles allow it to be distressed nobly when used. Regularly used spots wear smooth and take on a fine gloss. The strict requirements of the German Goods Community for Furniture (DGM) are reliably fulfilled.
We test all our leathers for their functional characteristics and fulfillment of the DGM quality guidelines RAL-GZ 430 "Allgemeine Güte- und Prüfbestimmungen für Möbel" (general quality and test specifications fur furniture). D-VELVET fulfill the strict requirements as follows:
Light fastness: min. level 3 | Rubbing fastness: min. level 3
We process natural and growth characteristics based on the particular covering piece and the strength of the feature. Only real faults which might negatively affect the quality of the leather are left out of the covering.
